Hotel (7/366)

~*~

Be kind to your mother-in-law, but pay for her board at some good hotel.
~ Josh Billings

Saturday called for a little adult time ... and no mother-in-law was involved!

DROID (6/366)

~*~

"Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Ambush (#1.1)" (2008)
Battle Droid Driver: [escaping from Trade Federation tank] Run for it!
[being pulled into tank]
Battle Droid Driver: But I just got promoted...

I got promoted today! Or upgraded ... or totally confused!  That "Getting Started" pamphlet?  It needs to be a 90-minute, YouTube video.

I'm sure I'll find the appeal soon, but right now?
I'm overwhelmed and longing for the simplicity of my LG EnV3.

Change is hard ...

Cookies (5/366)

~*~

Remember, sex is like a Chinese dinner. It ain't over 'til you both get your cookie.
~ Alec Baldwin

It's time to order Thin Mints.

Because there aren't really any other Girl Scout Cookies worth eating!

Shattered (4/366)

~*~

Complacency is a state of mind that exists only in retrospective: it has to be shattered before being ascertained.
~ Vladimir Nabokov

Corningware might be microwave and oven safe, but it isn't Dana safe.

As I was putting away dishes this morning I managed to shattered not one, but two of these pieces of cookware - and without a drop of blood shed.

Files (3/366)

~*~

I wanted to have virtual memory, at least as it's coupled with file systems.
~ Ken Thompson

One of my favorite things about the new year is fresh, new files.

It plays to my anal retentive need for, and appreciation of, organization.

Rose Bowl (2/366)

~*~

"What am I seeing? What's wrong with me? Am I crazy? Am I crazy? Am I crazy?"
~ Broadcaster Graham McNamee, calling the infamous
wrong way run by Roy Riegels in the 1929 Rose Bowl

Because January 1st fell on a Sunday this year, and God forbid we disturb the NFL on Sunday, the Rose Bowl is being played today ... during the day ... and I was working!

Thanks to a little help from my friends, I was able to find a live stream of the game so that I could watch from work ... during my breaks of course ... which I saved up until the end of the day so that I could watch the game.

No!

Really!

I swear!!

Okay ... maybe not ...

Tracks (1/366)

~*~

The time will come when people will travel in stages moved by steam engines from one city to another, almost as fast as birds can fly, 15 or 20 miles an hour.... A carriage will start from Washington in the morning, the passengers will breakfast at Baltimore, dine at Philadelphia, and sup in New York the same day.... Engines will drive boats 10 or 12 miles an hour, and there will be hundreds of steamers running on the Mississippi, as predicted years ago.

~ Oliver Evans, 1800

One of the things I wanted to do differently with my Project 365 366 this year was to repeat a photo monthly.

I remembered Sujomi doing this in 2010 with a tree. I was fascinated watching the changes each month.

So, the first of each month I'll give you this same view.  Hopefully it will cooperate and change with the seasons (and no, we shouldn't have that green grass on January 1st).
