Photography (229/365)

“To me, photography is an art of observation. It's about finding something interesting in an ordinary place... I've found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.”
~ Elliott Erwitt

Hi! My name is Dana and I have dSLR envy.

Some of the Project 365 peeps that I follow have recently gotten new cameras and are taking amazing photos with them. Then there was the photowalk. I wanted a new camera - one that would take better photos than my silly little point-and-shoot.

After much thought - and some serious price checking - I decided it was better to start with improving the photographer than it was to start with improving the equipment. I'll be taking this class in the fall!

You have such a refreshing attitude! I know a couple of people who think that all you need to be a great photographer is several thousand dollars' worth of equipment, screw talent or taking time to really learn what you're doing. Enjoy the class!! :)

I’ve wanted to get a new, good camera for ages as well. The day we went to Italy our camera broke and I had to buy another $300 one. So I guess it will be awhile longer before I can get a really good one.

I totally agree with you attitude!

Good for you.

I took a class offered by the camera store where I got my dSLR, there were 2 people in the class with point-and-shoot cameras. For such "simple" cameras it's amazing how much control you can still have.

I'm jealous! What with the crazy schedule around here, I'm unable to fit something like that in for me. Someday...

I quit buying good new cameras because they didn't get used enough. Besides, when you show up with your pictures from Fermilab you'll be the star of the class.
