I love my Canon Rebel XT DSLR. My favorite lens is the EF-S 55-250mm IS. I've gotten some of my best shots w/ that lens.
Oh! Also, Canon has a really handy remote control for self portraits or group shots - I found mine on Amazon for around $20ish. That way you don't have to set up the timer. :-)
